Book Introduction:  This textbook mainly focuses on structural, thermal, electronic, dielectric, magnetic and superconducting behaviors of materials in their solid states. This book was motivated to present those core topics of Solid State Physics in the easy way. The text has a range from basics to advanced and experimental topics in Solid State Physics. We have tried to write the text as easy as it is to comprehend with easy-to-understand figures and derivation. Majority of the subject matters of this book were originated from lecture notes of Solid State Physics courses delivered to undergraduate and postgraduate students by the first author at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST), Sylhet, Bangladesh. It will serve two main goals. The first goal is to provide the beginners, both major and non-major physics students, a solid foundation in Solid State Physics through the supplied imaginative figures in most of the topics. The second goal is to enhance understanding of the advanced and applied topics through our rigorous presentation of the text and mathematical derivations in the book.

Abdul Hannan is working as a Professor in the Department of Physics at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST), Sylhet 3114, Bangladesh. He achieved M. Sc. (Physics) degree from Jahangirnagar University, Dhaka, Bangladesh and D. Sc. degree from Tokyo Metropolitan University, Japan. He was a Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) postdoc fellow for two years at TMU. He has been teaching Solid State Physics (undergraduate level) and Advanced Solid State Physics (postgraduate level) courses at SUST for more than a decade. He has research interest in condensed matter physics. More details are available at https://www.sust.edu/d/phy/faculty-profile-detail/152/17.
Md. Akiful Islam is doing his M.Sc. (in Theoretical Physics) at University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. He is working on a thesis under the supervision of Dr. Talal Ahmed Chowdhury (Department of Physics, University of Dhaka) that explores the formation history, distribution of exotic compact objects (ECOs) in the universe, and the impact on the amplitude of the Stochastic Gravitational Wave Background (SGWB) they may induce. He aspires to pursue a research career in Gravitational Astrophysics and Cosmology.
